It was built in the early 1930s by the great-grandfather as a hut-shelter, with local granite stone cemented with the lime produced in the nearby calchera. The structure has evolved over the years, while respecting its original character. Every year we have tried to improve the refuge to communicate our respect and thanks to the tourist and to the mountains. In the early 90’s we did the most important work:
\nThe roof, initially pitched to the east and now to the west, was modified to increase the space in the sleeping area: we were thus able to obtain 6 rooms for a total of 25 beds (4\/6\/8 bunk beds), divided by wooden partitions, and a single bathroom with shower and hot and cold running water. It is accessed by means of a spiral staircase located near the kitchen.
\nIn the floors, the wooden and straw sleepers have been replaced by Tuscan terracotta tiles and wooden terraces have been added in the wall facing west.
\nOn the ground floor there is the refreshment area, with the bar and an external bathroom with shower for campers.
\nIn the basement, from the old stable we have obtained a tavern-restaurant and from the cellar a tavern carefully furnished by Valentina with rustic objects of the past. Assunta says: \u201cThe first time I entered the refuge, I remember the wall all black from the soot of the stove. How hard to take it off! How many coats of white! And when we slept on the attic, full of cracks on each side, with the cold wind coming in to keep you company at night and the rain naturally dripping right onto your bed! But they are precious memories that unite us who have lived them. “<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The only building on the right side of the mule track (the other huts are all on the left): the refuge.
