Walking in the mountains I work for myself. This is the sentence pronounced a few years ago by a Dutch mountaineer who was making the crossing of our Alps and who had stopped at our refuge for a couple of nights. In the evening chat, after dinner, I was particularly struck by his words: “I have worked all my life for others and now that I am retired I work for myself. Because walking in the mountains is working for myself, because it makes me feel good. in body and spirit. It gives me satisfaction. ” I share. The meaning of work is “the application of an energy to the achievement of a specific purpose” and walking in the mountains is to apply an energy to achieve a specific goal, whether it is the chosen goal, or doing sports, or even measuring oneself with himself. It is not a difficult job, it is a job that you enjoy, it is life.
