Total immersion in nature: the Volano basin. The pine forest, which advances every year, accompanies the travelers of discovery.
A small church, dedicated to the Lord of the Peaks, located just beyond the refuge, on the right on the path that leads to Pizzo Badile, allows passers-by to also refresh the spirit.
It was built in the early 1930s by great-grandfather Giuseppe as a hut-refuge. Until the early 1980s, different families from Cimbergo alternated with the management. Since 1982 the management has become our responsibility. In the early days, the goods available to passers-by were scarce and had to be carried up on the back of a mule. We were told that upon arrival the owner of the animal ordered two bowls of wine: one for him and one for the mule!
This is a photograph taken in 1964 and portrays the refuge in its original construction. The photographer is Pierino Inverardi from Lumezzane, to whom we send our heartfelt thanks.
